Equine Legacy Sessions
A portrait experience for horses nearing the end of their journey.
Saying goodbye to a beloved equine partner is one of the most difficult and emotional experiences we face as horse owners. When age or illness begins to affect your horse’s quality of life, an Equine Legacy Session offers a gentle and meaningful way to honour the bond you’ve shared.
These sessions focus on the deep trust, quiet understanding, and enduring connection that define your partnership — a tribute to the life you built together.
Many of us don’t realize until it’s too late that we don’t have the kind of photographs that truly reflect who they were. A Legacy Session gives you something lasting: images that preserve your horse’s presence, their expression, the way they leaned into you, and the quiet moments only the two of you shared.
Long after the details fade, these photographs remain.
Session Details

Legacy Sessions are designed to be gentle and unhurried within a contained timeframe. While the session length is approximately 30 minutes, we work at your horse’s comfort level — allowing pauses, quiet moments, and space as needed so they are never rushed or overstimulated.
Sessions are conducted with compassion, patience, and the utmost respect for your horse and your partnership.
I take on two Equine Legacy Sessions per month, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Booking & Eligibility
Equine Legacy Sessions are reserved for horses who are under veterinary care and nearing end-of-life due to age, illness, or injury.
To request a session, please submit a private inquiry including:
- Your horse’s name and age
- Current health condition
- Anticipated timeline (if known)
- Confirmation that your horse is under veterinary guidance
Each request is reviewed individually to ensure these sessions remain available for families who truly need them during this sensitive time.
If your horse’s condition changes or euthanasia is postponed, please let me know so we can adjust your session type accordingly.
If, at the time of the session, the horse is not in end-of-life condition, the booking may be converted to a standard portrait session and regular pricing will apply.

Black Background (BBG) Session Add-on* – $199
Black background portraits are a timeless and elegant way to highlight your horse’s unique personality. These images evoke the feel of a classic studio session—refined, striking, and all about your horse. With the distractions removed, their beauty and presence take center stage.
These sessions are typically photographed in a barn aisle or covered entryway using natural light. The final effect is achieved through careful composition and detailed post-processing in Photoshop to create that signature black background look.
Each session includes two fully edited digital images for personal use*** (medium resolution, 1024px). Once your private gallery is delivered, you’ll have the option to purchase prints or wall art separately. These portraits are especially stunning in a classic black frame with a white mat—or as a bold, statement-making canvas.
